2012 Layer Cake Reading Series
What do you get when you combine local female playwrights, 2 October nights and 1 heaping spoonful of local actors and directors, stir gently and bake? Live Girls! Theater's 2012 Layer Cake Reading Series, a part of our Bakery play development program. The Layer Cake Workshop is a program that helps playwrights with specific projects that Live Girls! has committed to fully produce. With intimate readings followed by talk-backs, the Layer Cake Readings will give audiences a unique opportunity to be directly involved in the shaping of new plays that they know will be part of future Live Girls! seasons.

Featuring new plays from- Emily Conbere, Rachel Atkins,Tracy Vicory-Rosenquest, Becky Bruhn, and Sasha Bailey
These five playwrights were given the theme "exploration and discovery" and a few guidelines and asked to create a short play. An ensemble of six actors will perform all the pieces and at least two will be picked for inclusion in Live Girls! annual short play event Quickies.

A deep mechanical breathing sound fills the air." (opening stage directions to SILON)
Live Girls! theater commissioned up and coming local playwright Darian Lindle to create a Science Fiction play with the potential to become a reoccurring episodic theatrical event. And SILON, the first story of The Secret and Impossible League of the Noösphere was born. Live Girls! will be producing this exciting new play as part of an upcoming season and this is the first chance for the public to get a peek at the strange and thrilling world Darian Lindle has created.
