WinterSong
The Portland Symphonic Choir presents WinterSong!, Saturday, December 1st at 7:30pm, and Sunday, December 2nd at 1:30pm at St. Mary's Cathedral. Conducted by Assistant Director Kathryn Lehmann, the 120-voice Choir will perform pieces evocative of the season from many cultures and faith traditions. The Choir will be joined by the WinterSong Brass Ensemble, organist Dan Miller, and special guests, Lakeridge High School's A Cappella Choir directed by William Campbell. Highlighting this year's concert are Daniel Pinkham's well-loved Christmas Cantata, and Magnificat in G by Charles Stanford. The Choir will also perform Gustav Holst's Christmas Day, John Rutter's beautiful arrangement of Silent Night, Israeli folksongs, and an arrangement of Latvian carols. The Choir welcomes Lakeridge High School's celebrated A Cappella Choir for a performance that includes Brian Schmidt's Lux Aeterna and Hodie Christus natus est by Healey Willan. The concert concludes with a shared performance of Handel's Hallelujah Chorus.
Tickets are $15 for students, $25 for general admission, and $35 for preferred seating. Children seven and under are admitted free with a paying adult.
