This That & The Other
What is this? What is that? What is the other? We are!! Liz, Alyza, and Elby have been creating three new works. Join us for this community supported event full of very different worlds....
Implied Forever by Elby Brosch A solo on two bodies. An introspective reckoning of our physical container. The innermost extracted and placed between. This piece is filled with longing. Limbs that reach for a history that isnt theirs. Queerness seeps from our skin and our bones, from our muscles and our hair. An essential aspect that is both generous and costly. Well find home in stillness, sadness in motion, and empathy and escalation in touch. Gestural themes will ground the abstraction. Quick changes in direction and quality will mirror the unpredictable nature of our lives. And then its over. A small glimpse of a long journey towards self. We all find beauty and pain in our failings. A truly universal resonance.
Liz Houlton Inspired by science fiction and theories of parallel universes, these dancers are exploring a silent world void of any outside force. Its a freedom laced with confinement, a forced hiatus of whats real. Through the building and breaking of relationships, we learn who the dancers are to one another and if there is a possibility they're all the same.
Alyza DelPan-Monley Words stroll by, bustling city folk down a street, crafting our perception of the world. They are matter, action and thought; they are forming and containing, broadening and expanding. Words attempt to encapsulate nebulous thoughts of the subjective minds, our thoughts unutterable. When it is time to be launched into the world, dandyclock seeds blowing into the unpredictable wind, a signal into the space void that we can only hope will be received, we release them, hoping that our meticulous calculations will match our limitless dreams. Out there, an uttered word lives a life of their own. They materialize, morph, grow, react, reflect, expand and hold universes of multiplicity and possibility. They bear personalities, aspirations and even thoughts of their own. When finally received and swallowed by another subjective mind, they temper their chaos, reorganizing into a neatly contained concept, packaged and presentable. But in that flight, in the space outside the mind, they live.
