The Kindly Ones
The gods have intervened to stop a series of revenge murders that go back before the Trojan War, and give birth to democracy in the process. Though the original conclusion to Aeschylus' Oresteia Trilogy inextricably connects this democracy with unapologetic misogyny, this new adaptation allows the audience to decide the defendant's fate in mythology's first trial by jury. The demonic Furies and their quest for vengeance gets a fascinating new take in this production directed by Rick Olson and written by Blunt Objects Theatre co-founder Bohrs Hoff.
Performances are October 18-21, and 25-28, all shows 8pm at the Magi Cultural Arts Center, 2149 W 21st Street, with easy access from the Pink Line. There will also be a talkback featuring the director and playwright on Friday, October 19th.
