A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 2: FREDDY'S REVENGE (1985)
A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 2: FREDDY'S REVENGE (1985): If you have to ask what's gay about this second installment in the popular horror franchise, you've never seen the movie. Mark Patton (COME BACK TO THE FIVE AND DIME, JIMMY DEAN, JIMMY DEAN) stars as Jesse, a teenager whose family has just moved into the house where the previous residents seemingly conquered the sinister Freddy Kruger. But Freddy's back to invade Jesse's dreams and to go on the rampage once again. From the cigar-chomping coach who hangs out in gay bars and spends way too much time in the showers to Jesse running to his male best friend's house after kissing a girl, the hit sequel is packed with homoerotic subtext. Helping Downtown 30 audiences navigate the film's queer reading will be filmmaker Daniel Farrands, who will discuss the movie and present clips from his acclaimed documentary NEVER SLEEP AGAIN: THE ELM STREET LEGACY. Scr. David Chaskin; dir. Jack Sholder. 89 min.
