Eye on Artist Lecture Series: Native Hands Exhibition - Guest Curator and Artists Talk
Join us for a conversation with Native Hands guest curator Miranda Belarde-Lewis on influences, materials and meaning in the exhibition, along with Suquamish artists Betty Pasco (weaving in cedar and wool) and Peg Deam (multi-media work in sculpture, beadwork, cedar weaving), both Tribal Elders, and Randi Purser (carver, Lushootseed language teacher). Reception with light food and drink in the Feferman Gallery will take place immediately afterward.
Miranda Belarde-Lewis (PhD) is an independent curator in the Seattle area. She works to highlight and celebrate Native artists, their processes, and the exquisite pieces they create. She has taught at Northwest Indian College and the University of Washington. She is enrolled at Zuni Pueblo and a member of the Takdeintaan Clan of the Tlingit Nation.
