Tom Collier
Bio: Tom Collier is presently serving as Chair of the Ethics Committee of the Society of Petroleum Evaluation Engineers. He has been an active member of SPEE since 2000. Headquartered in Midland, Texas, he provides engineering support for corporate reserves reporting, process improvement, and analysis. With over 36 years of industry experience, Tom has held various engineering and management positions with Concho Resources, ConocoPhillips, Burlington Resources, Schlumberger, and Unocal. He holds a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University, an M.B.A from California State University, Fullerton, and is a licensed engineer in the State of Texas
Abstract: Ethical Issues for Todays Petroleum Engineer Like all professionals, the practicing petroleum engineer encounters ethical issues on a daily basis. Most of the time, these issues are resolved by all involved without difficulty. Other times more is required. This presentation will take a look at several ethical issues in the context of the practice of petroleum engineering in todays world. It will address the following: Competency Conflict of interest Relationship to society & the environment
The presentation will close with a group discussion on key issues.
