SOLD OUT: Politics & Prose and Sixth & I Present CHRIS HAYES
In A COLONY IN A NATION, Chris Hayes, the author of TWILIGHT OF THE ELITES and the Emmy-winning host of MSNBC's All In with Chris Hayes, argues that America is as far from being a post-racial society as it was in 1968. Examined on the basis of school segregation, employment, and incarceration, the country is deeply divided along racial lines. It has split in another way, as well, and Hayes shows how one part, the Nation, honors law. The other, the Colony, focuses on order, and is ready to achieve it at any cost, from aggressive policing to trampling civil rights in the name of security. Combining history with political and social analysis, Hayes argues that the preservation of a free and democratic society depends on healing our social breakdown under one vision of justice for all.
Hayes will be in conversation with Jamelle Bouie, chief political correspondent for Slate and a CBS News political analyst.
