BLUE MOUNTAIN with MARAH
After a year-long stint in Los Angeles, Hudson and Stirratt moved back to Oxford and joined by drummer Matt Brennan, began gigging and recording. With this line-up, the band released their first self titled album on their own 4-Barrel Records in 1993. The band was signed by the independent Roadrunner Records label and released their second album, Dog Days, with new drummer Frank Coutch in 1995. Two more albums followed on Roadrunner Records, Home Grown in 1997, and Tales of a Traveler in 1999. During this time, the band toured extensively and garnered a reputation for their high energy shows and gained a grass-roots, loyal fan base. In 2001, Blue Mountain released an album of all public-domain roots music covers, simply titled Roots, before their live double CD release recorded at Schuba's Tavern, Tonight It's Now or Never, came out in 2002. After a 5 year hiatus, Blue Mountain reunited in the summer of 2007 and in August of 2008, they released Midnight in Mississippi, an album of original material, spanning 12 tracks, including 3 songs from solo albums released by Hudson, as well as an album of 14 re-recorded Blue Mountain originals from their three Roadrunner Records releases, entitled Omnibus.
The band is currently based in South Mississippi and New Orleans. A new record is in the works.
