Homewood Museum welcomes author Erica Armstrong Dunbar to the Mason Hall Auditorium to discuss her book "Never Caught: The Washingtons' Relentless Pursuit of Their Runaway Slave, Ona Judge."
Little has been written about the slaves owned by our first president, George Washington, particularly that of Ona Judge, who at twenty two years old became the subject of a massive manhunt. Come hear the powerful tale of a brave woman who risked it all, and left everything she knew, to reach freedom from our founding father. Erica Armstrong Dunbar is the Blue and Gold Professor of Black Studies and History at the University of Delaware.
5 p.m. Reception and Book Signing. Copies of the book will be available for purchase. 6 p.m. Book Talk
The lecture is presented in celebration of Black History Month by Homewood Museum, the former country house and slave-holding farm of Marylands Carroll family in the early decades of the nineteenth century.
