Rich and Famous (on the in$ide) / The Preservation Society
Rich and Famous (on the in$ide) aka The Real American German Dream Burgers aka Two Cool aka Say No More aka Laugh a Little, Pee A Lot aka Turtles Who Talk About Penises aka Stuck Up Bitches in Too Tight Shorts aka AKA... We have been making people laugh from Berlin to Brooklyn and back. Places where we've made people cry available upon request. The story of the infinitely talented Lucie Pohl and Katjana Gerz is long and arduous, so here is a very short version of it: Two girls both born in Hamburg, Germany, one very little and dark, one gigantic and blond, both grow up in the US and fool people into thinking they are talented actresses. They meet on the set of a gory horror film and decide to show the world just how funny it can be when you throw two smokin' hot Hamburgers on a bun with some Sauerkraut. Cheese sold separately.
The Preservation Society sketches are grounded in traditional performance styles with a cinematic focus that occasionally yields bold conceptual breakouts. The show we would like to prepare for Sketchfest, "The McGuffin Treasure," follows Chris and Pete as they prepare to heist the valuable McGuffin family fortune, a narrative punctuated by vignettes that riff on the crime genre films, over different decades and through different styles.
