Piano Series: Henry Kramer
Henry Kramer, one of the most talented and accomplished of the new generation of American pianists, was praised for his performance last season with the Portland Symphony. A 2005 graduate of Cape Elizabeth High School, he has appeared before audiences in Europe and North America.
The first half of the program features works by 19th-century "Romantics" -- Schubert's Piano Sonata in A major, Op. 120; Chopin's Ballade No. 4 in F minor, Op. 52; and Brahms Variations on a Theme of Paganini, Op. 35 (Book I) -- and following intermission, we will be treated to two major 20th-century works by Prokofiev: Piano-Violin Sonata No. 1 in F minor, Op. 80, and Piano Sonata No. 6 in A major, Op. 82. Canadian violinist Cordelia Paw joins Henry Kramer in performing the piano-violin sonata.
