About We are Mountains: We Are Mountains by Anna Conner CO is architected in a world of fantasy and dreams, focusing on subconscious thought, resilience and the breaking down of protective walls. Conners movement is erotic, relentless, creative and highly technical. Expect to be pushed out of your comfort zone. Her work has been referred to as a hypnotic endorphin rush Michael Upchurch of the Seattle Times.
Conners collaborators are Jenna Eady, Elizabeth Houlton, Erin McCarthy, Sabina Moe, Calie Swedberg and Katie Wyeth. The editor is Marlys Yvonne and scoring this work are Ben Hinrichs and ONE.
We Are Mountains is made in part with major backing from Case Van Rij and a Creative Residency from Velocity Dance Center.

About Anna Conner CO: ANNA CONNER + CO is a dance company based in Seattle,WA. ACC has been presented/commissioned by Velocity Dance Center, On the Boards, Judson Church Movement Research and Conduit (Portland) among others. Conner has received residencies with Velocity Dance Center and Berlins Ponderosa Dance. ACC invites audiences into tangible, multifaceted worlds to get lost in. Mariko Nagashima of Seattle Dances writes, shes certainly adept at constructing intricate choreography, but what sets Conners work apart is the attention she pays to the environment in which she frames the movement. The Oregon Arts Watch describes their work as toughly erotic choreography with great skill. Anna was named a featured artist to watch in Berlins Kaltblut Art/Fashion/Media magazine 2014. Anna Conner +CO is supported by Foundation for Contemporary Arts Emergency Grant, 4Culture and The Seattle Office of Arts & Culture. ACCs creative process involves improvisation, collaboration, research, discussion and reflection. Anna is also a managing partner at Open Flight Studio.
We create art that is honest, intimate and speaks to the human psyche. We do this while striving to guide and empower the audience through an artistic yet sometimes unpleasant journey. The goal is to arrive at a deeper awareness of ourselves and an awareness of the world that surrounds us. As performers our tools are our bodies, our movement is beautiful and our power lies in taking risks.
About Marshmallow Sea: Marshmallow Sea is a 35 minute sequel to Zaletel's 2016 evening length Water Stories which premiered as part of a 5 month collaborative creative residency at MorYork Gallery in Los Angeles, CA. Marshmallow Sea begins how Water Stories ends. It dives beyond linear narrative and submits to dream logic, physical and psychological "exits", and the natural conservation of sensational memory. Jonathan Snipes (of clipping.) will perform a live sound score utilizing MaxMSP, field recordings, miniature music boxes, and a modular synth to offer a sensitive, deliberate, and familiar sonic atmosphere. Marshmallow Sea will also feature original costumes by Amabelle Aguiluz and set design by prolific recycling artist, Clare Graham. This dance for 6 women is meditative - to perform and to witness - and is rooted in the process and effort of exposing our unconscious patterns.
Marshmallow Sea is made possible by MorYork Gallery, Pieter Performance Space, Jim Rodney, Case Van Rij, all our 2016 Indiegogo Supporters, and the Hammer Museum's IRL Studio Residency.
