Starting at 6 pm internationally acclaimed Brazilian band Show Brazil! will energetically perform traditional and contemporary music and dance, while covering the best of the Brazilian Carnaval music. A native of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil Eduardo Mendonça began performing in Seattle eleven years ago with his group Show Brazil! and has played throughout Western Washington and Brazil at various events and festivals. During the performance, Show Brazil! will bring some audience members onstage to join in the music and dance. After the performance, Show Brazil! will move to the lower level and hold a dance workshop for audience members, with an emphasis on Samba. A Taste of Brazil will follow featuring various meat and chicken hors d'oeuvres and treats such as Pão de Queijo (Brazilian cheese bread); Mousse de Maracujá (Passion Fruit mousse); and Guaraná (Brazilian soft drink). Kids and families can participate in a mask-making workshop by Lindsey Dabek and cultural displays and visual exhibits will set the mood for an exploration of Brazil.
