Parlor of Mystery and South Shore Theatre Experience present Magic and Metalism
Award-winning magicians Bobby Torkova and Jordi Magomero will perform at the January 22 Parlor of Mystery Show at the South Shore Theatre Experience.
New York City resident and award-winning magician Torkova has graced stages all around the world. He has won numerous awards including the 2013 Merlin Award for Classical Magic. He is a magic historian and writer with numerous articles to his credit and an original play titled Thought Prints that premiered at the 2006 New York City Fringe Festival. Torkova has also consulted for several off-Broadway productions as well as for the best selling book, Magic for Dummies.
The roots of Jordi Magomero's magic are in Barcelona, Spain. His magic reflects the traditional Spanish style, which he describes as a "journey" with the spectators. Jordi creates intimate miracles with cards, coins, and balls, many of which are woven into stories. Magomero was awarded 2nd Prize in Close-up at Cabra-Cadabra in 2010 and 1st Prize in Close-up at Decklords in 2007.
Parlor of Mystery producer Joe Silkie will host the show. Silkie is magic creator, consultant, lecturer and artist. He has constructed custom magic props for popular magic television shows and props used by thousands of magicians world-wide. His magic often include hand-made artifacts that he produces in his art studio.
Silkie is one of five Long Island magi who have modeled the Parlor of Mystery after similar magic shows that are operating around the world. The other magicians are: Terry Parrett, Ted Plezia, Mike Maione and T.J. Tana.
The Parlor of Mystery is a monthly parlor magic show where magic is performed that does not require expensive, large-scale stage equipment. It is magic performed close to the audience and without a stage. The setting and the magic are intimate. And all shows are modern, funny, grown-up and for grown-up audiences.
The Parlor of Mysterys home is the South Shore Theatre Experience in Lindenhurst. Its the perfect place to experience parlor and close-up magic. It is small black box theatre with comfortable tiered seating for 45. The Parlor of Mystery is one of many productions that take place at the South Shore Theatre Experience, which is located at 315 West Montauk Highway in Lindenhurst. The South Shore Theatre Experience is a non- profit organization that produces original works and theatre classics as well as conducting acting classes & workshops.
Parlor of Mystery shows take place at 7pm on the fourth Sunday of every month with different magicians performing different effects. Torkova, Magomero and Silkie will perform on Sunday, January 22.
