Food Part I: Foraging in the Urban Environment with Nora Lidgus & Raina Dimmitt
Two working chefs with 10 years of New York City kitchen experience between them will cover topics like seasonality, good fats and bad fats, the awesomeness of medicinal ingredients like honey, and help you map out the green markets that seem to be popping up everywhere these days. Participants will learn where the ingredients come from, as a prelude to workshop part II, where we will make a city-specific snack. Meet at Flux; wear your walking shoes and don't forget your Metrocard! Maximum class size is 15 people. Registration for each class is separate; while we recommend attending both workshops, they can be enjoyed separately as well.
This workshop is part of Flux Factory's "Domestic Revolution," an educational series focused on different areas of domestic living: food, sewing/mending, bike maintenance & repair. This series considers how everything we do can be a full expression of our most highly-capable selves, making the world exactly as we would like to see it and making ourselves the super-people to enable it.
