From Bach to Latin America An Evening of Classical Guitar with Mitch Weverka
Greater Boston House Concerts is pleased to present a solo recital with Texas-based guitarist and educator Mitch Weverka.

In his program, From Bach to Latin America, Mr. Weverka presents a program that begins with his own arrangement of the ever-popular first Cello suite by J.S. Bach. The program then switches over to music by living guitarists from Latin America, highlighted by a newly composed suite based on traditional Bolivian music by Oscar Valdez and Ernesto García de León's "Lejanías Sonata", a composition that sets the Rumba rhythms in a neoclassical form using post-modern harmonies.

"He possesses a truly refined talent, instinct, musicality, and undeniable technical qualities."   La Provincia (Italy)

Program:
Suite for Unaccompanied Violoncello Bwv 1007 by J.S. Bach, Arr. M. Weverka

Estudios Sencillos (Book III & IV) by Leo Brouwer (b.1939)

Suite del Pago (Dedicated to M. Weverka) by Ovalba (b. 1950)

Sonata IV "Lejanías" Op. 34 by Ernesto García de León (b. 1952)

"Mr. Weverka impresses with his technical wizardry ... [playing] with relaxed flair and great musical definition."  The Fort Worth Star Telegram

About Greater Boston House Concerts:

Founded in 2011 by classical guitarist Aaron Larget-Caplan, Greater Boston House Concerts is quietly reestablishing the excitement and intimacy of classical music within the community in a Salon environment.  With nine concerts in our first season from musicians and poets as far away as Italy and Austria, Greater Boston House Concerts brings high-quality classical and contemporary music by some of the brightest and daring of artists, out of the concert hall and into communities.  Concerts are open to the public but seats must be reserved prior.

"The music of concert hall in the intimacy of the Salon."

Concerts are 1-1.5+ in length.  Each concert is followed by a 10 minute Question & Answer hosted by the Director with the Artists, and a meet-the-artist reception.  Audience members are welcome to bring their own alcoholic beverages and/or contribute to the reception.
