Alto Adige Tasting Seminar

The Oliver McCrum Wines portfolio has maintained a strong focus on wines from the Alto Adige over the years and for good reason: the wines from this area show an overall level of quality unrivaled in other regions, from the small estate producers to the large co-operatives. We are proud to import 5 examples of the delicious and widely planted Schiava grape and some of the best examples of Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Sauvignon, and Lagrein from the region.

We recently received our shipment of the new vintage releases from all our producers in the Alto Adige, and after a brief rest from the long voyage, we will be releasing the wines in early October.

In this 2 hour seated seminar style tasting, we will discuss the fascinating history and culture of the area (where most of the farmers speak German, not Italian), we will learn everything you ever wanted to know about the Schiava grape and how it became tradition to blend Lagrein with Schiava in the famous sub-zone of Santa Magdalener, we will discover the reason there are so many quality co-operatives in the area, we will explore the minute details of the grapes varieties used and the climate and terrain in each area, and we will taste 15 of our finest wines.
