Australian-American violinist Irene Fitzgerald-Cherry just completed her MFA at the Swedish National Orchestra Academy in Göteborg, Sweden. As part of her goal to bring little known contemporary works to the public ear, Irene has organized recitals at the Bennington Museum featuring 20th century solos and duos in collaboration with colleagues Julian Cartwright, guitar, and Nathan Heidelberger, piano. She has performed in recitals for NYU Steinhardt composers, recording sessions for Steinhardt's film scoring program, and in various ensembles including the Empire State Youth Orchestra, the Saratoga Springs Youth Orchestra and the Sage City Symphony.
**** About Eavesdropping Composer and curator Guy Barash's new music series Eavesdropping kicks off its third year of adventurous modern programming. It returns to The Tank to present some of today's most daring performers and astonishing composers. For artists, Eavesdropping provides a stage for risktaking and the exploration of non-conventional sound, to present a relevant boundary-breaking artistic work. Shows often include multimedia elements, real time electronic processing, and performance art.
The Tank's intimate black box theater brings our audiences close enough to become part of the creative process. We are committed to presenting innovative repertoire that is relevant and intriguing. Eavesdropping is a crossgenres new music series presented to the city's inquisitive listener - the one that seen it all and heard it all but craves for cultural excitement.
