TerraVITA's Sustainable Classroom & Grand Tasting on The Green *Combined*
On Friday, November 2, from 9:30 am 4:15 pm, TerraVITA will host the Sustainable Classroom a combination of culinary workshops, tastings, and beverage and food demonstrations featuring food and beverage experts and aficionados.
The Sustainable Classroom sessions will be held in two locations, just one block from one another the new TOPO Distillery on Graham St. near the intersection of West Franklin, and the event space at the Greenbridge Development on Graham St.
Each session lasts one-hour and fifteen minutes and will include multiple experts specializing in different facets of food and/or drink. One session pairs chef and cookbook author Bill Smith from the James Beard-winning restaurant Crooks Corner with author Sheri Castle to offer tastings of some of their personal recipe favorites while discussing the whims and woes of what it takes to put together a winning cookbook.
Another session combines cheesemonger Alexander Kast with chef instructor Breana Lai, and sommelier and proprietor Inez Ribustello to do the ultimate wine, cheese and food tasting. There will be eight sessions to choose from and each guest may select a maximum of four sessions to attend throughout the day. Other participating experts include Dr. Bernie Herman from UNC, Tom Gallivan from Shooting Point Oysters, Scott Maitland from TOPO Distillery, Scott Conary from Carrboro Coffee Company, Cassie Parsons from Harvest Moon Grille, Sasha Shreders from Southern Foods, Jay Pierce from Lucky 32 Southern Kitchen, Leah Wong Ashburn from Highland Brewing Company, Amanda Hodge from Great Lakes Brewing, Mary Margaret McCamic from The Clever Vine, Sherry Stolfo from The Chef's Academy, Marilyn Markel from A Southern Season, and more.
