"On Deck"
Transactors Improv presents "On Deck." Directed by company member Mike Beard, "On Deck" plays with using physical levels to influence the action in and development of the show.
The action of "On Deck" takes place not only on the main stage floor but also on three platforms of varying heights. Each deck has a quality that changes the nature of the scene being played upon it. Essentially, where the improvisers are on stage affects where their characters are going.
"The idea is to explore how simple changes can have a sweeping effect," explains Beard, who also serves as Transactors Improv's resident tech guru, having worked as a designer, engineer and technician for over 30 years.
As with all Transactors shows, everything is made up on the spot and based on audience suggestions. The cast for "On Deck" includes Anoo Brod, Greg Hohn, Nancy Pekar, Dan Sipp, and Annie Zipper. In addition to directing, Beard improvises lighting and sound effects.
