Pirate Bones
Chicago, 1959 - Oda Mae is a developmentally challenged woman who passes the time dreaming of her wedding day; Edina is an immigrant girl who navigates her troubled childhood pretending to be Peter Pan. When fate brings the lonely pair together, they share their make believe worlds until reality intrudes and they discover fantasies are not always as innocent as they seem.
The bittersweet friendship between Edina and Oda Mae plays out against a painfully quiet backdrop of domestic abuse, alcoholism and developmental challenges, while providing a glimpse of a less familiar America of the 50s - one in which blacks and whites lived in unobserved harmony despite the racial discord so prevalent during the era.
Cast: Ashley J. Dearborn, Gina DeLuca, Charles Glenn, Mary Helena, Brendan Hutt, Donald Kubeczko, Judith Laughlin, Carolyn E. Nelson, Ed Schultz, Joy Thorbjornsen-Coates. Directed by Kristina M. Schramm.
