More Oil: To Frack or Not To Frack, That Is The Question -- Prof. David Chipping
The national debate about fracking continues amid a chorus of facts, unknowns, suppositions and emotions. This course will identify the issues and address the vital questions informed citizens need to understand and weigh. What is fracking? What are the potential impacts on peoples homes, land, water and climate. Is there a correlation between fracking and earthquakes? What are the legal issues and the regulatory environment? Is it necessary in an era of increasing green energy? Dr. David Chipping has a Ph.D. in geology from Stanford University. He is an emeritus geology professor at Cal Poly, former Conservation Director and current President of the California Native Plant Society-SLO Chapter, as well as environmental delegate alternate to the Water Resources Advisory Committee to the SLO Board of Supervisors. He has written several thoroughly documented reports on fracking.
