Lecture - Feathers: the Evolution of a Natural Miracle
Feathers are an unparalleled evolutionary marvel, whose story has never been fully told. Biologist Thor Hanson explores the research done by paleontologists, ornithologists, biologists, engineers, and art historians, to paint a fascinating picture of feathers -- what they are, how they work, how they evolved, and what they mean to us.
Thor Hanson's research and conservation activities has taken him all over the world. He has managed a brown bear tourism project for the U.S. Forest Service, and as a Peace Corps volunteer in Uganda, helped establish mountain gorilla tourism program. A prolific writer, he contributes to a wide range of publications; his book, The Impenetrable Forest: My Gorilla Years in Uganda, won the USA Book News Award for Nature Writing.
