BOSTON MANDOLINS QUARTET
Please join us for this delightful concert, featuring the many sounds and styles of the mandolin. Featuring August Watters, John Booker, Ben Torrey, and Celeste McClain, Boston Mandolins is a quartet specializing in classical music composed for all the instruments of the mandolin family: mandolin, mandola and mandocello, as well as guitar. The quartet are led by Berklee School of Music faculty member August Watters, and include some of New England's premier mandolin teachers and performers. You'll be treated to music both composed and improvised that draws on classical, jazz, and bluegrass traditions.
As director of both CCMC and the New England Mandolin Ensemble, August Watters draws on both improvisational and composed musical forms. August is an Emmy-award winning composer, mandolinist and guitarist with more than 25 years of performance and composition experience in varied styles. He maintains a regular schedule of private and public bluegrass and jazz performances, and has appeared at local, regional and international festivals, including the Joe Val Festival (Boston), the J.D. Crowe Bluegrass Festival (Kentucky), and the European World of Bluegrass (Czech Republic).
We hope to have an informal music session after the concert; you are invited to bring your instrument!
