the dream songs project: Schubert & Friends In Madison
the dream songs project's fall concert featuring Dominick Argento's Letters from Composers, Rodrigo's Three Spanish Songs, and an array of pieces from the height Romantic guitar songs, including works by Carulli, Moretti, Jadin, Keller, Giuliani, and Schubert.
Formed in 2010, the dream songs project has performed in venues across the Midwest. Alyssa Anderson and Joseph Spoelstra performed contemporary music together as members of RenegadeEnsemble before creating the dream songs project. The duo programs a wide range of repertoire, including guitar transcriptions of lute songs and opera arias, classical and romantic art songs written for the instrument, as well as modern pieces and newly commissioned works for the ensemble. In 2012, the dream songs project was awarded a Metropolitan Community Arts Council Community Arts Grant to fund a series of performances focusing on voice and guitar pieces by Minnesota composers and to fund a commission for a new piece for the duo by composer Daniel Nass. This award was made possible because of the Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund, part of Minnesota's 2009 Legacy Amendment. Through the incubator program of Springboard for the Arts, the dream songs project is a not-for-profit organization.
