The Nursery Scenes Class
Creating scenes is an grounding in the core principles of the Nursery style of improvisation. In a supportive, fun environment, you will be guided through making improvised scenes in a way which is accessible and friendly to anyone, whatever their background. You will create characters both realistic and bizarre and find the fun of a scene can come slowly and organically or quickly and impulsively. By the end of this course, you will be able to create relaxed, delightful scenes, using a variety of techniques to create quick agreement and playful cooperation with your partner
Course runs 10.30-5pm Daily.
Skills learnt during this course include:
- Starting scenes organically from no more than you and your partner - Noticing emotional dynamics between you and your partner and using them to power the scene - Using basic stagecraft to make scenes that are physically and textually varied - Holding onto what is useful in the scene and letting go of what is not - An introduction to other scene techniques and structures, including the point of view and game - Introducing facts and structure to fast track agreement on the scene - Playing in a light and easy way to delight your partner and the audience - Escalating and exploiting choices and accidents - Using Point of View, physicality and vocal change to create delightful, inspiring characters
