CMW Emanuel Ax Festival Residency
Join Community MusicWorks with world-renowned pianist Emanuel Ax for a two-day festival residency.
Festivities start on Thursday, March 23 at Brown University's Granoff Center with an open rehearsal with the MusicWorks Collective and CMW students, followed by a public discussion on the topic "What Does it Mean to be a Citizen Artist?" That evening, the MusicWorks Collective, CMW students and Mr. Ax will perform at La Lupita Tacos Mexicanos in Olneyville Square. Join us for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to hear an international sensation while enjoying your tacos!
On Friday, March 24, join us for a Community Dinner at the West End Community Center followed by a concert featuring Emanuel Ax and the MusicWorks Collective performing standard classical repertoire. In addition, Mr. Ax will join CMW faculty and students in a special "We Shall Overcome" project. (See the CMW website for details about this project and the sing-along events leading up to the festival.)
You will not want to miss this opportunity to engage with one of the most celebrated artists of our time. All events are free and open to the public, but you must reserve a seat. In addition, festival "Ax Passes" offer you opportunities to engage with CMW. Purchase a Festival Pass to receive priority seating, a festival button and poster, a free taco at La Lupita, or an invitation to our concert after-party!
