YPIN Socratic Debate: Mobama? MEMBERS ONLY
Is it time for another four years of President Obama? What would the first 100 days of a Romney term look like? Is Romney's tax plan realistic? Has ObamaCare been effective? Where do the candidates agree or disagree on the top policy issues of today? Are they debating the right issues? Where is their funding coming from and does it sway campaign content? Who should win the election?
Slightly different from past Socratic Seminars, this event will assume a more debate style dialogue, and each attendee will be asked at random to assume the perspective of one of the two major political parties: Democrat or Republican (or if preferred, Tea Party, Libertarian, Independent, Green Party, etc.). Please come prepared to discuss opinions that differ from your own. Recommended readings have been provided below as a starting point.
Socratic Seminars aren't for telling you the answers; rather they provide a discussion space to explore the questions. It is a moderated discussion around top issues of the day in true dialectic method. Articles highlighting viewpoints on both sides of an argument are provided as suggested reading, although participants are encouraged to participate even if armed only with their opinions. The Socratic Seminar series does not place parameters on where the discussion may go; rather it provides a starting point and background information to fuel discussion.
Socratic Seminars are sponsored by the Row House Café.
Attendance is limited 25 participants per Seminar.
Members: Free Members only (become a member and get in for free!)
