Meet-and-Greet and Movie Night at Swainway Urban Farm
As you probably know by now, Central Ohio will be sending nine delegates to Terra Madre, the world's biggest sustainability conference, and Slow Food's International Congress, both in Turin, Italy, this fall. Our Chapter has pledged to rally community support behind these outstanding individualsand to date, we're more than halfway there. But we still need your help.
Fortunately for you, we've come up with some ways to make supporting Central Ohio's delegates worth your while. Our next event is a unique opportunity to tour an organic farm in a very unlikely locationa 1/3-acre lot in Clintonvilleand to learn about some of the young farmers at the forefront of the modern sustainable farm movement.
Join us on Saturday night, September 22, 2012 for an open house at Swainway Urban Farm, created and operated by 2012 Terra Madre delegate Joseph Swain. Chef David MacLennan, himself a delegate, will be on-site serving locally sourced appetizers, along with Tricia Wheeler from Edible Columbus, who will have her specialty honey popcorn. This event will also include a private viewing of the film Grow!, a documentary about the next generation of sustainable farmers, and an opportunity to meet and talk with some of central Ohio's finest young farmers. Beverages will be available as well, though in order to keep costs down the event will be B.Y.O.B.
Cost is $20, and all money raised will go toward sending the nine Central Ohio delegates to Terra Madre and the International Congress. Tickets are available via Brown Paper Tickets and directly from Swainway Urban Farm at the Clintonville Farmers' Market Saturday mornings from 9am - noon. Event begins at 6:30 pm to enjoy local food and conversation with central Ohio's young farmers. Movie will begin shortly after sundown.
