The Vanderford-Corr Duo brings together two of the Pacific Northwests most accomplished young performers. In the 2006/2007 season they performed a series of recitals in New England and Spain to great acclaim. As a duo, they have coached with Jose Maria Gallardo del Rey and the great Spanish mezzo Teresa Berganza, where they where specially selected to perform in her masterclass which was broadcast on Spanish National television.
Heidi Vanderford, a graduate of Indiana University School of Music, is quickly garnering attention across the United States. A Seattle native, she was a student of Constanza Cuccaro at Indiana University. Ms. Vanderford covered the roles of Modestina IL VIAGGIO A REIMS and Sappho LYSISTRATA for the 2005/06 season with New York City Opera. This past season she was engaged with the Gran Teatre del Liceu as Ein Blumenmdchen in PARSIFAL. In the spring of 2005 she returned to Chicago Opera Theater as Hippolyta A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, and in the summer of that year she participated in Seattle Operas production of THE RING covering the roles of Waltraute, Siegrune, Rossweisse, Grimgerde and Schwertleite. The 2007 season featured a return to the Washington National Opera for where she sung Schwertleite in DIE WALKRE alongside Placido Domingo.
Described by the Hartford Courant as "a guitarist for music lovers to catch", and praised by the Tacoma News Tribune for his technical competence, musicality and clarity of tone, Daniel Corr is active as a performing classical guitarist across North America and beyond. Recent appearances include performances of guitar concertos by Giuliani with the American Classical Orchestra, Villa-Lobos at Benaroya Hall with the Seattle Creative Orchestra, and Rodrigo with the Auburn (WA) Symphony under conductor Stewart Kershaw. He has also been a featured solo recitalist at the Beijing Central Conservatory as a guest of Professor Chen Zhi. A passionate chamber musician, Daniel can be frequently seen in concert as a member of the TriCordes trio with Andrew Smith, violin and Andrea Mills, cello. Daniel's recent recording with the Auburn Symphony Orchestra, "Concierto de Aranjuez", was released in 2005.
Daniel Corr's musicianship and artistry have been recognized at several competitions including the 1st prize at the 12th Northwest Guitar Competition held at the University of Idaho, a top prize at the SUNY-Potsdam Crane New Music Solo Performer Competition adjudicated by Pulitzer Prize winning composer George Crumb, and as the recipient of Yale's prestigious Eliot Fisk Prize as the "outstanding graduate in guitar" in 2001.
