This experiential class is aimed at encouraging participants to explore the nonsensical side of their creativity. The class will provide an overview about the specific types of nonsense, the famous writers, musicians and artists who use nonsense, the benefits of using nonsense, and an opportunity to create your own nonsense using images and words. Participants can expect the first hour to be for learning and the second two hours to be for creating.
About the Instructor: Ashley Sweet, M.A. is a writer, dreamer and mental health professional living in St Pete. Ashley recently received a Master's degree from the University of South Florida, where she studied Mental Health Counseling, and has an undergraduate degree from Stetson University in Sociology, Women's Studies and Humanities. Ashley has been an avid writer since childhood, and has been attracted to nonsense writing for the past 10 years. Last year she attended a workshop hosted by Dr. Raymond Moody about the Logic of Nonsense, and was inspired to share what she learned through community workshops about nonsense writing. Ashley hopes to inspire creativity in others by shaking them from the rigid ruthless rhetoric of logic and delving into the dynamic depths of the unfiltered mind.
