Falluja: The Lost Generation/Sacred Stones
Falluja: The Lost Generation/50min
What is the legacy of the Iraq war? Feurat Alani investigates the dramatic increase in cancers, birth defects, and infant mortality in Fallujah since 2004, interviewing Fallujah residents, doctors, United States military veterans, international scientists and weapons experts to shed light on the cause of this health crisis. He explores the possibility that weapons used by the U.S. in 2004 are the cause, including white phosphorous, depleted uranium, and anti-personnel thermobaric weapons. Contains scenes some viewers may find disturbing.
Sacred Stones/52min
Considered by many as Palestine's white petroleum, natural stone is Palestine's most highly demanded raw material. However, the Palestinian stone industry is largely held hostage to serving Israeli construction needs including building illegal settlements on Palestinian land. Inside villages, cities and refugee camps, natural stone is unearthed at maddening unsustainable rates leaving behind a wreck of environmental, social and health problems. Complaints of ordinary Palestinians lead to persecution by the Israeli occupation, fall on the deaf ears of international organizations or are merely ignored by Palestinian officials who are unable to change the course this industry has taken.
