Sept Chapter Meeting
Meeting Topic: Urban Farming and the Future of Food Production
Guests from around Middle Tennessee have distinguished themselves as advocates for alternative food sources or have a voice in urban planning and design. Participants will learn to implement urban planning policies concerning local food production, urban farms, and sustainable urban planning using the information included in this course.
Guest Panel Rick Bernhardt - Metro Planning Director Teresa Kennedy - Founder of Green Healthy Communitites C.J. Sentell - Ecotone Farms-Clarksville Kim Hawkins - ASLA, Hawkins Partners, Landscape Architects Jason Adkins - Trevecca, Environmental Projects Coordinator & Amanda Little, Moderator Our discussion moderator, is a longtime AIA program collaborator. She began her yearly involvement with AIA with Future Energies, an exploration of the future of energy production in Tennessee in 2009. Amanda is the author of "Power Trip: America's Love Affair with Energy" and is professor of investigative journalism at Vanderbilt University.
