STORYTELLERS Negin Farsad
Negin was named both one of the Funniest Women of 2015 by Huffington Post and one of the 10 Best Feminist Comedians by Paper Magazine. She has written for/appeared on Comedy Central, MTV, PBS, IFC, Nickelodeon and was selected as a TEDFellow for her work in social justice comedy.
She is director/producer of two feature films: The Muslims Are Coming! starring Jon Stewart, David Cross and Lewis Black and Nerdcore Rising starring Weird Al Yankovic. She also is the director/writer/star of the rom-com 3RD Street Blackout, starring Janeane Garofalo, Ed Weeks, and John Hodgman (released summer 2016). Recently she launched a political-comedy podcast on the Earwolf network, called Fake the Nation.
Negin is the author of recently released memoir How to Make White People Laugh. Heres one way she makes white people laugh: She sued New York States MTA over the right to put up funny posters about Muslimsand WON. Shell show off a few more tricks she has up her sleeve at Out by 10 Feb. 10th.
Josh Gondelman
Josh Gondelman, a comedian and writer for Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (where he earned a Peabody Award and Emmy nomination), takes topics from surprise parties to his experience teaching preschool and makes them all hilarious. He has appeared on Conan (TBS), in Comedy Festivals from San Francisco to Asheville and can also be seen on the first season of Night Train With Wyatt Cenac (SeeSo).
Joshs newest comedy album Physical Whisper, debuted at #1 on the iTunes comedy charts (as well as #4 on the Billboard comedy chart) and stayed there forwelllonger than he expected, honestly.
Matthew Dicks
Matthew is a 28-time Moth StorySLAM champion and four-time GrandSLAM champion whose stories have been featured on their nationally syndicated Moth Radio Hour and their weekly podcast.
He is author of four international bestsellers: Memoirs of an Imaginary Friend, Something Missing, Unexpectedly, Milo, The Perfect Comeback of Caroline Jacobs (translated into more than 25 languages). He has a new one coming out: The Other Mother.
He is also the author of the rock opera The Clowns and three musicals: Caught in the Middle, Sticks & Stones and Summertime. Hes a humor columnist for Seasons magazine and the founder and creative director of Speak Up, a Hartford-based storytelling organization that produces shows throughout New England. Jocelyn, a Brooklyn-based, singer/songwriter, songwriting coach and percussionist, was the infamous singing drummer of indie-pop trio, Pearl and the Beard, which toured internationally with Ani DiFranco, Neko Case, Iron & Wine, Lucius, Ingrid Michaelson, Bastille, Dar Williams, and others.
Jocelyn collaborated with Ani DiFranco on one of the tunes in 2016 EP, Unlovely. In addition to writing for film and theater and Jocelyn leads songwriting workshops internationally and at the Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls, which has inspired musicians and non-musicians nationwide, from ages 8-80.
