Every month, a local musician is interviewed and performs their original music. Having listened closely, the comedians from local improv group The Local Music Scene then take the words and themes brought up through the songs and interview and use them as the inspiration for improvised scenes.
The Local Music Scene is: Sarah Arnold, Liz Council, Luke Gonnella, Jeff Gyllen, Mary Kane, Emily Lindholm, Erik Nielsen, Will Roberts, and Philip Simondet. They are an improv group that has trained and performed at various local improv theater, including The Brave New Workshop, ComedySportz Twin Cities, HUGE Theater, and Jesters. All of them either ARE local musicians or enjoy local music. At the VERY least, theyve heard the term "local music.
February guest: Amanda Costner is a comedic musician who hails from Oklahoma and bases out of the Twin Cities. Amanda has performed at Second City, Brave New Workshop, Looney Bin Comedy Club and bars & theaters throughout the Midwest. Her comedic songs range from acoustic pop ballads about being a gay preachers daughter, to soul-comedy pieces on the war of sexual frustration. And each performance is loaded with the biographical, stand-up musings of an LGBT-Redneck. Look out for Amandas debut EP, which will drop in the spring of 2017.
