Shaking the Dew from the Lilies
The West Coast premiere of Shaking the Dew from the Lilies by Paddy Gillard-Bentley follows five diverse women that are accidentally locked over-night in a mall bathroom. Care-free Tami and the uptight Cynthia dislike each other right away. Long-time friends, the perfect fashionista Aja and the feminist Susan are added into the mix as their friendship is put to the test. The voice of reason, Nicole tops off the group. Throughout the night unexpected things are discovered. Some are revelations while others; scandalous betrayals. This bathroom entrapment is spent grappling with an array of hilarious topics ranging from their sexuality, mothers and men, tampons and orgasms, and their most embarrassing moments. These dynamic women, through humor, drive the play forward on a journey of self discovery, courage and truth.
"This was a surprisingly funny and sometimes poignant play that has a clever set design of being entirely in a shopping mall bathroom. The actresses are all amazing performers in their own right and the on-stage chemistry as an ensemble makes this play a pure adventure to watch. From losing their clothes, to sleeping in the same room, to even using toilet paper, they have to figure out how to do it and do it all together! Make sure you take your friends to see this production!" NoHo Arts District Newspaper
