Slow Wine:Real Wines
Despite its image as a pure, unadulterated beverage, wine has become as much a victim to homogenization and over-industrialization as food has - more so if you consider wines unique ability to transmit place and to continue living in the bottle. Fortunately, wine is having its own revolution as a new generation of producers throw out the overly-sterile rulebook, bring back ancient farming techniques, revive grape varieties on the brink of extinction, reject the over 70 additives legally allowed in wine, and in the process make some of the most vibrant and curious wines you have ever tasted. Please join us at Kingstons beloved natural wine bar Brunette. Natural wine expert Christina Pickard (more about Christina below). Christina will lead us through a tutored tasting of some of the worlds most provocative and honest wines generously provided by some of our regions top artisan wine shops including Ester Wine and Spirits, Kingston Wine Company, Hudson Wine Merchants, and Reed Street Bottle Shop.
An all local Charcuterie and Cheese tasting will accompany the wines provided by John Kowalski, chef, professor and author with expertise in the production of a wide range of charcuterie products. Cheese produced by Colin McGrath, cheesemaker from Sprout Creek who recently launched his own cheese company.
Christina Pickard is a professional wine writer, educator and presenter, previously owned of her own wine school who, after living abroad for 13 years in both Britain and Australia, has recently made a move back to her home country and currently resides in the beautiful Hudson Valley. www.winewithchristina.com
