Cellular Cinema 20: Lori Felker: Discontinuous (2-8)
Bryant Lake Bowl Cabaret Theater
Minneapolis, MN
Share this event:

For CC20, Cellular Cinema is delighted to welcome back Chicago-based artist Lori Felker.

Lori Felker's moving image work focuses on the ways in which we process, share and disseminate information, via screens, dreams, gestures, games, and dialogue. By employing and pushing these structures, she attempts to study the ineloquent, oppositional, delusional, frustrating, and chaotic qualities of human interaction.  She lets the form follow the idea, and so she has worked in a variety of styles, genres and formats from handmade 16mm animation to humorous performative TV segments, to a feature length portrait/documentary on a rock n roll alien hybrid.

Lori is a Chicago-based filmmaker/artist, teacher, programmer, and performer. She loves every facet of filmmaking and has also worked as a cinematographer, editor, and actor for artists and directors such as Jerzy Rose, Melika Bass, Jesse McLean, and Geof Oppenheimer. She was also a Programmer and Coordinator for the Chicago Underground Film Festival and a projectionist at the Gene Siskel Film Center.

She works in a variety of mediums and has shown her work internationally at festivals and spaces including the Rotterdam International Film Festival; NYFF: Views from the Avant-Garde; VideoEx, Zurich; Slamdance, Park City, UT; Festival du Nouveau Cinema, Montreal; Curtas Vila do Conde Film Festival, Portugal.  She is an Illinois Arts Council Artists Grant recipient, a Wexner Center Artist in Residence and a Fulbright Fellow. She is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee and the Film/Video programmer at Roots & Culture Gallery.
