Movement, imagery and sound collide forming a shared language that evokes the immediacy of present time, as we ask: where is here and what is after?

Here & After is an evocative investigation into the power dynamics of change, drawn from the perspective of four distinctive women who pushed society forward.
Inspired by the work of suffragette Mary Church Terrell, Pentecostal minister Lucy Farrow, writer Gertrude Stein and poet Djuna Barnes, the essence of each character penetrates four interconnected scenes. We use their lives as measurement, their struggles give us key insight into our collective past and present; how far have we come?

Here & After refers backward into our collective memory of past events and questions the limitations of these shared perceptions. We unearth the wellspring of power behind what is unacknowledged. We dig for longings, the raw desire that is unseen and socially shunned, that runs beneath the surface. We interrogate the relationship between text and context, playing with narrative and anti-narrative.

We ask: "Is there value to the emotional experience? When is emotional revelation necessary? Is it?" Our characters moved forward in their lives, despite enumerable obstacles and constrictions in social conventions and made the deep lasting changes that continue to this day.
