Help Wildlife & Become a Habitat Steward!
NOW IS YOUR CHANCE TO BECOME A HABITAT STEWARD!
National Wildlife Federation is offering a specialized 24-hour training to teach you how to help others create and restore wildlife habitat in backyards, schoolyards, and other private and public areas. This program is engaging, fun and highly informative and you get to meet and interact with local conservation professionals and other similarly interested folks!
Benefits include: an NWF volunteer t-shirt, 24 hours of hands-on training, engaging field trips, a comprehensive training manual with local resources, instruction from local professionals, and continued support from NWF staff.
Expert speakers will present on topics such as:
Rain Gardens Pollinators Sustainable Gardening Practices Climate Change PNW Ecology Noxious Weeds Native Plants Gardening for Wildlife Habitat Restoration And much more!
Classes will take place every Thursday in February from 6:00-9:00pm, and each class will be hosted at a different King County Library branch location. The exact branch for each training date is as follows: Feb. 2nd at Skyway Library, Feb. 9th at Renton Public Library, Feb. 17th at Renton Highlands Library, and Feb. 23rd at Foster Library. Field trip sessions will be held on two Saturdays (February 11th and 25th), plan on a full day!
*Scholarships are available! No one will be turned down to lack of funds. Email WAhabitatcoordinator@nwf.org for more information.
**A 30-hour volunteer commitment within a year after the training is required. We will provide coffee, tea, and snacks at each training session and you are welcome to bring a brown bag dinner.
