Our Voices To End Slavery
The youth of Willow Spring Church went to a conference in Kentucky 2 years ago, and heard about the evils of Human Trafficking occuring around the world. When they came back to Moraga, they were shocked to find out that it was much closer than they imagined. Through the "New Day for Children" program they learned that just 10 miles away from Moraga, girls their age were being sold night after night in forced prostitution. It was enough to inspire them to action.
Last year they organized the first benefit concert for the "New Day" program, and it was an amazing success! Not only did they raise $3,000 that night, but Willow Spring Church was so moved by what the teenagers had done, that they committed to donating 10% of the church's monthly tithe for the entirety of 2012. The total funds raised to date have been over $30,000!
This year's concert will be just as powerful and moving. The performances will consist of professional singers and musicians, playing alongside Lamorinda's talented teenagers. Speakers for the night will include Kathy Wilson of "New Day", and representatives from the D.A.'s office of Alameda County and the Department of Homeland Security.
The tickets are purposely $30, because if at least 100 people attend this event, that would be $3,000 total. That is the cost of saving one girl a month, and that is worth it.
We look forward to seeing you on November 9th, and please consider bringing everyone you know.
