Hatrack Gallagher & Friends at the Homegrown Coffeehouse
Everything that Patrick "Hatrack" Gallagher plays -- the feeling and heart of every performance he gives -- is shaped and informed by the blues. (He also boasts one of the best nicknames in music.) He learned his craft at the knees of Peg Leg Sam Jackson, Sonny Terry, Hammie Nixon, Furry Lewis , Bukka White, Roosevelt Sykes, Robert Pete Williams and others. He knows how it's supposed to be done, and he brings it all with him when he plays. The it is blues harmonica blues harp to be precise and we havent heard anyone better since Paul Butterfield was around to pound out Chicago-style blues. For this show, Hatrack brings along his three friends -- jazz pianist and regular side man Ric Mauré, with his fabulous blues chops, Jim Guttmann, founder of Bessarabian Breakdown, on bass, and Mike Avery on percussion.
