The Oyster South Symposium (OSS) is being held by Oyster South (a non-profit dedicated to advancing oyster aquaculture in the southern US), in collaboration with National Sea Grant, Alabama Cooperative Extension and Auburn University, to bring together producers, gear suppliers, distributors, chefs, food writers, vendors, researchers, students and managers from the southeast region to discuss pressing issues and relevant, practical research on oyster aquaculture on January 27-28th, 2017 in Auburn, AL.Registration includes admission to all informational sessions (all day Friday and Saturday morning), all breaks, lunch on Friday, January 27th, the mixer on Friday night, and the trade show. Meeting fees are based on current OS membership and industry role (see below).
For any commercial growers that register to attend, National Sea Grant has provided financial assistance to defray your costs of attending this symposium by at least $150. This benefit is on a first come, first serve basis, so please register early (see below). You will be contacted by email with details after you register.
Dates: Friday, January 27th - Saturday, January 28th (done by noon so attendees can get ready to attend and celebrate southern oysters at the Alabama Oyster Social on Saturday night and raise funds to support Alabamas oyster farmers).

Oyster South Membership: Membership in Oyster South, a non-profit 501(c)(3), will be composed of general members (oyster eaters and lovers) and producer members. The symposium is for producer members. Currently, annual membership projected dues are:
Growers (individuals or businesses involved in the day-to-day commercial farming of oysters [;;;;;hatchery, nursery and grow-out];;;;;), $35/year
Students/Educators/Government Employees/Media Members (individuals or institutions involved in education, research, outreach and communication about the farming of oysters, including but not limited to enrolled students, media members, teachers, scientists, state agency employees and Extension agents), $15/year
Related Industry (individuals or businesses involved in industries associated with the farming of oysters, including but not limited to wholesalers, restaurants, seafood markets, gear suppliers, and other vendors -these members must provide a discount of their own choosing to other current, paid members of OysterSouth [;;;;;demonstrated by OS partner card];;;;;), $350/year
