Tribute! Celebrating the music of Kate Wolf
The late great Northern California folksinger Kate Wolf would have been 75 in 2017. Although she's been gone for more than 30 years, her songs endure, sung around campfires, at weddings, at folk festivals, and celebrated in this concert by an all-star cast of performers. To learn more about Kate Wolf, go to www.katewolf.com
Our cast includes John Roy Zat, who recorded with Kate on her 1977 album, "Lines on the Paper". He added lyrics to the traditional fiddle tune "Midnight on the Water", which Kate sang and he played fiddle. More about John Roy Zat at http://www.royzat.com/
Hannah Jern-Miller first played our showcase five years ago in a Sonoma County trio called Three-Legged Sister. In 2015, she played a Kate Wolf tribute as a member of The Bootleg Honeys, and nine songs from that live show were released as an album. She plays many solo gigs, and also in a band called Foxes in the Henhouse. http://hannahjernmiller.com/
Also joining us to perform songs written and/or recorded by Kate Wolf are the duo called Holy City Zoo, BanjerDan, Sonnie Brown, Jen Hajj, Alice Wallace and Miss Leo. Your host Steve Key will kick the show off at 7pm.
The concert will be held at Steynberg Gallery, 1531 Monterey St., San Luis Obispo, 805.547.0278. The gallery has a cafe serving dinners, desserts, beer, and wine. Doors open at 6pm.
