BAD POP (formerly HOT PANDA) BIO: Manic shrieking akin to Pixies' Frank Black is tangled with textures of early Modest Mouse, with one of the most unique voices in indie rock dancing playfully over Vancouver's most versatile rhythm section.
Previous incarnations of this band have released three critically acclaimed full length albums on Mint Records (2012's 'Go Outside', 2010's 'How Come I'm Dead', and 2009's 'Volcano, Bloody Volcano'). The releases have debuted at #1 on Canadian college charts, earned them a 'Hot Track of the Week' selection in Rolling Stone Magazine (Chinatown Bus), and an iTunes track of the week selection (Start Making Sense).
Their journey, as it goes, has seen Hot Panda drive five tour vans into the ground. They have taken their ferocious live show across North America over 10 times, as well as completing multiple tours of Europe which have included supporting slots for The Von Bondies, performances at Transmusicales 2012, and Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona. The band has also played some of North America's premier showcase festivals, including South By South West in Austin, and CMJ Music Marathon in New York City. They've been happy to share the stage with bands such as Grimes, Japandroids, Tokyo Police Club, The Sheepdogs, and many more.
