Politics & Prose and Sixth & I Present MICHAEL ERIC DYSON
In his twentieth book, TEARS WE CANNOT STOP: A SERMON TO WHITE AMERICA, sociologist and public intellectual Michael Eric Dyson issues an urgent, heartfelt, and eloquent message to white America. Expanding on his July 7 New York Times editorial, "Death in Black and White," written in the wake of the police killings of Philando Castile and Alton Sterling, Dyson, also a contributing editor for The New Republic and ESPN's The Undefeated, acts in the roles of both scholar and preacher. He demands that Americans face the true state of race relations in our country, which includes understanding both the history of today's racially motivated violence and the dangers it poses for the future.
Dyson will be in conversation with Wesley Lowery, national reporter covering law enforcement and justice for the Washington Post and author of "THEY CAN'T KILL US ALL:" FERGUSON, BALTIMORE, AND A NEW ERA IN AMERICA'S RACIAL JUSTICE MOVEMENT.
