BIM to BEM
The suitability of energy modeling tools varies greatly with project time frame, design phase, and budget. While all of these tools are helpful, only a handful offer both engineer and architect the desired flexibility and results required to achieve true integrated design. Glumac will present our process of BIM to BEM, the way we utilize Building Information Modeling tools to provide useful application in Building Energy Models. Our presentation will review the various energy software programs on the market today, and focus on using the right tools at the right stages of design to provide optimal efficiency. Additionally, we will focus on eQuest, the most popular software for whole building energy models currently in use. Glumac will provide an overview of the program and the type of inputs required from the design team. Our goal is to help THA understand how to better integrate architecture with energy analysis to develop the most useful and meaningful results. Learning Objectives:
1.Understand what level of detail goes into an energy model.
2.Overview of energy modeling software.
3.What energy considerations should be made in each stage of design.
4.What an energy analyst can help the architect understand about performance.
