HUSH: The Freshman
HUSH and step back to a time before television, during the advent of the automobile, and before the urbanization of America. Once home to 14 theaters, Somerville was the most densely populated city in the country, and going to the movies was a social experience where people came together to share news, gossip and be entertained. A century later we celebrate the art of silent film with live music performed by Noxaphonic, curated by Erica Baptiste and presented by The Rockwell.
Wednesday, Jan. 4th, 7:30PM The Freshman (1925, starring Harold Lloyd), a hugely popular comedic film at the time of its release.
The Freshman is a timeless tale of a young man in his first year of college as he strives for popularity and relentlessly attempts to gain the acceptance and approval of his peers. Originally grossing $3 million, The Freshman was the highest grossing full length comedy produced by Lloyd and is responsible for sparking a trend of college-themed films that still exists today. As they reimagine this classic through sound art, Noxaphonic will be accompanied by special musical guests.
The film runs 76 minutes in total and is unrated, though those underage must be accompanied by an adult. Show-goers also are invited to make it a true Dinner & a Movie experience by receiving 10% off their food purchases before or after the show at The Rockwells sister venues, Foundry on Elm and Saloon, that are housed under the same roof.
General Admission, Family Friendly. Advance Tickets recommended. Doors 7:00PM
