"What's your story?" Workshops
Catherine Yates of Yates Communications has been contracted to support the Calgary Service Provider Council with a strategic communications project through 2017. The project begins with these workshops open to 2 people from each member agency, subject to space limitations. There are four workshops with a maximum of 15 participants at each one.

The "What's your story?" Workshops are interactive sessions during which you will learn the importance of communicating through stories, how to identify an effective story, and then you'll practice coming up with and developing a story. These are called 'Mission moments' -- stories that connect people to why you do what you do and why it matters.

The workshops will be facilitated by Yates Communications with costs paid for out of Membership dues. Prospect Human Services is donating their boardroom for our venue and we will charge a small fee to cover the cost of lunch.

The purpose of the workshops is to build our collective skills to develop stories that celebrate our successes. The goal is to build a storybank of stories that can be used strategically to shape opinion, both proactively and reactively. The benefits for our sector will be improved understanding of what we do and the value to the community of our work. In addition, each agency will benefit from story development skills that will help your own agency connect with stakeholders.
